Fairview Range is pleased to announce the recent hiring of a certified nurse midwife (CNM), offering a new service line for expectant mothers and their newborns.
Robin Etter, who has been a labor and delivery registered nurse with Fairview Range Medical Center since 2003, is very excited to be in her new role as a certified nurse midwife. She joins the obstetrician/gynecologist (OB/GYN) provider team of Dr. Elizabeth Jones, Dr. Lane Meyer, and Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Amy Tuthill.
Etter holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The College of St. Scholastica; a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky; and is Board certified through the American Midwifery Certification Board.
As a CNM, Etter is able to care for women from the teenage years through menopause, including general health check-ups; screenings and vaccinations; pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care; as well as well-woman gynecologic care.
Midwifery care fits well with the services provided by Fairview Range OB/GYNs, who are experts in high risk, medical complications, and surgery. Working together, midwives can ensure that a specialist is available if a high-risk condition should arise.
Etter is the only CNM practicing in a clinic/hospital setting north of Duluth, Minnesota. A CNM can help expectant mothers develop the birth plan that best fits their needs by utilizing all modalities of pain relief such as emotional support, massage, relaxation, whirlpool, nitrous oxide, intrathecal and epidural.
Etter will be seeing patients at Fairview Mesaba Clinics in Hibbing, Mountain Iron, and Nashwauk beginning December 1, 2016. She will be delivering babies in the Women’s Health & Birth Center at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.
To schedule an appointment with Etter, or any member of the OB/GYN team at Fairview Range, call 218-362-6175.
