Central Mesabi Medical Foundation
History
The Central Mesabi Medical Foundation (CMMF) was founded on August 30, 1967 as the Hibbing Medical Foundation and later renamed the Central Mesabi Medical Foundation to emphasize our close association with the new Medical Center, built in 1980.
During our early years, CMMF’s major focus was education and research along with purchasing selected medical equipment. Because of rapid changes and technological advances, our focus has been redirected to raising funds to purchase the most highly advanced equipment and to provide educational and operational programs that enhance the delivery of health care in northeastern Minnesota.
CMMF has been able to provide more than one million dollars to Hibbing’s medical infrastructure thanks to the generous support of our region’s businesses and residents. The foundation also provides educational scholarships to students from our area that are studying in a health career field and are planning to return to the area.
Health care professionals and the residents of our communities continue to form a strong bond as we address the health care needs and the associated costs of addressing those needs. Working together, we have formed new programs and established new joint ventures to advance the latest in health care services, education and training for our community.
We sincerely appreciate the continued financial support and active participation that CMMF receives from our region. If you would like to make a contribution to the Central Medical Foundation, please click here.
