They say you can judge the honor of a society by its ability to understand and care for its people. And this is true. That is why Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi offers Greenview, a special home for people with Alzheimer's Disease and related conditions.

Our philosophy is a simple one: To enhance the comfort, ensure the safety, and maintain the dignity, of every resident.

Our facility is state-of-the-art, offering planned activities that both stimulate the mind and encourage freedom of movement. Our staff people are specially trained to work with people with Alzheimer's and related conditions.

We have created an environment that nurtures the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of every resident. Care is provided for the residents 24 hours a day, in an environment that is comfortable and safe. There are indoor areas that encourage residents to safely move about without feeling confused. Access to the secure outdoor garden court invites walking and a range of peaceful activities. Gracious living rooms, special activity areas and most of all, the nutrition center offer choices and spaces to meet all interest levels. Each bedroom has glass enclosed shelves for personal items to help our residents locate their personal room. There is a family room where residents and their family can enjoy each other's company in privacy.

PROGRAM FEATURES
A set but flexible routine provides residents a feeling of safety and security, allowing them to enjoy their days with opportunities for personal preferences. Meaningful, purposeful and enjoyable activities are built into the daily routine. Such things as exercise, recreation, music, religious events and outings are part of each individual activity plan.

HOW TO APPLY
Greenview maintains an easy three-part admission process: 1) initial physical and orders from potential resident's personal physician. 2) a needs assessment with family and potential client by a social worker and public health nurse; and 3) a social history and services contract.
