Orthopedic & Sports Medicine

 Fairview Mesaba Clinics and University Medical Center - Mesabi (UMCM) have teamed up with Orthopaedic Associates of Duluth to provide patients with comprehensive orthopaedic consults, and surgical and therapeutic care - all available conveniently close to home.

Orthopedics is a medical specialty for the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries and diseases of the body's musculoskeletal system. This system includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves - all the things that allow us to move, work and play.

Sports medicine is specifically concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of injuries sustained in athletic endeavors, including those that occur while biking, hiking, playing field sports, skating or other active pastimes or competitive events.

 Working closely with you and your primary physician, if necessary, the orthopedists will:

• Diagnose your injury or disorder
• Treat the problem with medication, exercise, surgery or other plan
• Rehabilitate you by recommending exercises or physical therapy to restore movement, strength and function
• Prevent injuries or help ease the progression of disease by providing information and treatment plans.
