Orthopedic & Sports Medicine

Orthopedics is a medical specialty for the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries and diseases of the body's musculoskeletal system. This system includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves - all the things that allow us to move, work and play.

Sports medicine is specifically concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of injuries sustained in athletic endeavors, including those that occur while biking, hiking, playing field sports, skating or other active pastimes or competitive events.

The Hibbing area is fortunate to have four experienced orthopedic surgeons: Drs. Daniel Baker, Leo Hise and J.W. Burnett of Northern Pines Orthopaedics see patients at the Fairview Mesaba Clinic-Hibbing, and perform surgeries at Fairview University Medcial Center-Mesabi. Dr. Leonard Jennings sees patients at the Duluth Clinic-Hibbing, and performs surgeries at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi as well.

Working closely with you and your primary physician, if necessary, the Hibbing-area orthopedists will:
  • Diagnose your injury or disorder
  • Treat the problem with medication, exercise, surgery or other plan
  • Rehabilitate you by recommending exercises or physical therapy to restore movement, strength and function
  • Prevent injuries or help ease the progression of disease by providing information and treatment plans.
