Welcome to Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi. The following information is meant to explain our facility to you in the event you are visiting someone who is a patient at our hospital.

The following services are available to you as a visitor. We hope that your visit is as convenient, comfortable and as enjoyable as possible. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to stop by our switchboard and ask one of our operators for assistance. You may also wish to refer your questions to one of our volunteers or direct your questions to one of the nurses, physicians or staff professionals.

Cafeteria
The cafeteria is located on the first floor by West Entrance. Hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM every day.

Mesaba Java Coffee Shop
Located in the clinic lobby on the second floor.

OPEN: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.                                                     
             Friday 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Vending
Vending machines are located in the Emergency/Urgent Care Waiting Room, in the Patient & Family Waiting Area on the second floor, in the waiting rooms on the third andfFourth floors and in the hallway on the fifth floor. The vending areas are open 24 hours a day.

Telephone
Courtesy telephones for local calls are located in the Patient & Family Waiting Area on the second floor and in the Women's Health & Birth Center Family Waiting Area on the fourth floor.

Family Waiting Areas
The Patient & Family Waiting Area located on the second floor by the North Entrance serves patients and families waiting for Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Disease Management, or the Lab. A volunteer is on duty to assist your family with any questions or concerns you may have. Complimentary coffee is provided to patients and families who are waiting. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has a designated waiting area located on the third floor just outside of ICU. The Women's Health & Birth Center's designated family waiting area is located on the fourth floor just inside the unit.

Newspapers and Magazines
Daily newspapers are available from coin-operated stands in the hospital entrance area. Courtesy copies of the local newspaper are availbable to inpatients each day.

Magazines and other reading materials are available in hospital waiting areas.

Gift Shop
Cards and gifts are available in the Gift Nook located on the second floor.  View their web page HERE.

Lodging
Overnight lodging is available at nearby motels. For information about rates and reservations contact the hospital switchboard operator (218) 262-4881, or view the Community Directory HERE.

Smoking
For the health and safety of our patients, visitors, and employees, Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi and Mesaba Clinics located in Hibbing, Nashwauk and Mountain Iron are tobacco free properties. If you smoke or use other tobacco products and are interested in quitting, please talk to your primary care provider about smoking cessation options that are right for you.

Admitting
Admitting for outpatient services (with the exception of Rehab Services - on first floor) is located on the second floor near the North Entrance.  Clinic Admitting is located at the East Entrance. 

Human Resource Department
The Human Resource Department is located on the first floor just past the cafeteria. The office hours are Mon. - Fri. 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

ATMs
There is a cash machine located on the second floor near the North Entrance.

Chapel
The Chapel is located on the second floor across from the Patient & Family Waiting Area.
