Fairview Range Home Care and Hospice

Hospice is a special program of care designed for people whose life expectancy is limited. It is an alternative to aggressive treatments. The hospice staff is focused on giving you the power to live life with dignity while remaining as independent and pain-free as possible.

Our goal is to help manage symptoms so that life may be lived as fully and comfortably as possible. Our team includes nurses, social workers, physicians, chaplains, volunteers, home health aides and more. We bring this caring team right to your home, nursing home, assisted living or group home.

Experiencing terminal illness as a patient or as a patient's family member is difficult and traumatic. There are intense feelings, stressors and needs. Hospice care emphasizes life and living for the patient and their family during the patient's remaining days of life by providing security, comfort, caring, love and sharing.

A patient comes into the hospice program with the approval of his/her physician and at the request of the patient and family. We have two branches: one serves a 30-mile radius of Hibbing and the other serves International Falls and surrounding areas. Anyone may offer a referral to hospice including family, friend, clergy or physician. The illness must be diagnosed as terminal and a competent person must agree to be the primary care provider.

Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team. They help in a variety of ways to give support to the patient, family and the team. Volunteers can offer support by listening and companionship, help in identifying the needs of the patient and family, grocery shopping or relieving the family members. Volunteers can also assist with clerical work and fundraising. Volunteer training is required and provided at no cost. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please give us a call.

Memorials and donations are gratefully accepted and used to support extra services, volunteers and bereavement services.
